So Long As We Keep Our Bodies Numb We're Safe Lyrics

It's what you want
It's your amphetamine
Another night you're settling
For comfort in your bedThe more you fill
The more you're empty
You're never what you should beHere is why you're sad:
You're miserable
When he is close
So take another drink
Another drink will numb those senses
And make the most of flesh and bones
If it helps you to fall asleepI'm watching you change
It doesn't have to be this way
It gets harder everyday
So you keep numb to feel safeFuck what you know
Can't you see it's shallow?
Every time you swallow
Do you get a taste of what you've becomeRegrets, they wake you in the morning

You shower but you're not clean
Please just listenYou're miserable
When he is close
So take another drink
Another drink will numb those senses
And make the most of flesh and bones
If it helps you fall asleepI'm watching you change
It doesn't have to be this way
It gets harder everyday
So you keep numb to feel safeI still remember the days
When you didn't feel the need to escape
And every demon you never face
Is the reason you're not safePlease understand that you've had every chance
You've had all the time
All the time in the world
Please understand that you've had every chance
You've had all the time
All the time in the worldYou don't listen, you don't listen, you don't listen

Midtown is a pop-punk band from Springfield, New Jersey, United States. Formed in November of 1998 by three Rutgers students, the band soon became a pop-rock quartet and took advantage of the fertile New Jersey punk scene to develop a unique sound that combined elements of both emo and alternative sounds. They began recording shortly after their formation. Their first EP, "Sacrifice of Life," was issued by Pinball Records in 1999. Their first full-length album, "Save the World, Lose the Girl," was released in early 2000 by the Drive-Thru Records label and picked up for distribution by MCA.
