Soldier of Fortune Lyrics

A soldier of fortune came home from war
And wondered what he was fighting for
This sad-eyed soldier, he broke down and cried
Oh he was so broke up insideWhen will it end? When will it end?
The bells toll for those about to dieThe battles over, the war is won
But this soldier of fortune, he will carry on
He will carry on when all hope is gone
He will carry onHes trained to kill and kill he will
As we march along
Singing just another soldier song
Just another soldier songI am a soldier of fortune
Destined to keep on marching
I can hear the pipers callingI am a soldier of fortune
Destined to keep on marching
I can hear the pipers calling

Thin Lizzy are an Irish hard rock band who formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. The band were led throughout their recording career by bassist, songwriter and singer Phil Lynott, and are best known for their songs Whiskey in the Jar, Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back in Town, all major international hits still played regularly on hard rock and classic rock radio stations. After Lynott died, various incarnations of the band have emerged over the years culminating in a more stable line-up based around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes. Sykes left the band in June 2009.
