Solitary Moon Lyrics

When the night
Is wrapped around us
And the dawn might come too soon
When the only light
That's found us
Is the solitary moonWhen the songbird in the willow
Sings a soft and soulful tune
Once again
You share my pillow
Making love to me
Tenderly
Here, as we share
The silent moonAs it slowly sails above us
In it's solitary flight
Seems the moon
Must surely love us
As it bathes us in it's lightSay that we can spent the day
Through a sunlit afternoon

Let your kisses say
You'll stay here
And make love to me
Tenderly
Here, as we share
The silent moon.

Horn, who died in 2005, was a jazz singer and pianist whose style's watchword is "intimacy." Her vocal manner is akin to Miles Davis' trumpet style: not technically flashy, but definitively setting the song's mood. Indeed, it was Davis who discovered Horn in 1960 and who became an admirer despite his well-known dislike of vocalists generally. Horn was never a big record-seller, but she was well-respected by her peers.
