Somebody Else's Money Lyrics

We can buy that mansion on the hill
We'll fill it up until it's filled
We'll buy a big black Cadillac
And we'll keep an extra one in the backWe'll sit home just listening
To the sounds of the winds when they're breakingAnd we can buy that diamond ring
And just about any other thing
With somebody else's moneyWe can buy you that flower garden
With every rose that's ever risen
With a blanket and a safety pin
We'll keep away all the boogie menAnd we can buy you that swing
Swing through the skies openingsAnd we can buy that diamond ring
And just about any other thing
With somebody else's moneyWe can tattoo nickels on our skin
We'll drain our veins and put honey in
We'll buy new fingers two times ten
We'll even put pennies in our chinsWe'll buy a silver set of wings
Lay 'em on our backs for the windsAnd we can buy that diamond ring
And just about any other thing

With somebody else's moneyWe'll crash in on the neighbors wedding
We'll steal the cake and go running
You'll head straight for the jewelry
And I'll steal the money like a lotteryWe'll buy a set of legs just for walking
And another set of tongues for when we're small talking
Another set of lips for being obscene
And another set of heads for HalloweenAnd we can buy you that swing
To swing through the skies openingsWe can buy that diamond ring
Just about any other thing
With somebody else's moneyWe can buy babies for the babies
We'll give them both big red ponies
They'll live in that mansion on the hill
That we'll keep on fillin' until it's filledWe'll watch the neighbors fatten up with greed
Watching us buying everything we don't need
I know they're listeningThrough a telescope from across the street
Watching us fillin' up the bathtubs with sweets
Money, money, moneyMoney on the floor, put money in the beds
Put money in the drains
Money coming out of our heads
Money, money, moneyWe can kill many a dirty man
Work by the church when they bring us in
We can buy anythingBecause there's always something
That's so funny about spending
Somebody else's money

Two bands have used the name "The Wallflowers":
1. An American rock band
2. A British indie rock band

1. The Wallflowers are a rock band which formed in 1989 in Los Angeles, California, United States. The band's only constant member has been singer/guitarist Jakob Dylan, the son of folk rock legend Bob Dylan. The Wallflowers have released six albums: "The Wallflowers" (1992), "Bringing Down the Horse" (1996), "Breach" (2000), "Red Letter Days" (2002), "Rebel, Sweetheart" (2005) and "Glad All Over" (2012) The band is best known for their hit singles "One Headlight", "6th Avenue Heartache", "Three Marlenas" and "The Difference", all from their second album "Bringing Down the Horse".

The original members of the Wallflowers included Jakob Dylan (vocals and guitar), Barrie Maguire (bass guitar and vocals), Peter Yanowitz (drums and percussion), Rami Jaffee (keyboards and vocals), and Tobi Miller (guitar). Peter Yanowitz and Barrie Maguire left the band shortly after the album's release and went on to join Natalie Merchant's band. The band currently consists of Jakob Dylan and Rami Jaffee with Greg Richling (bass), Stuart Mathis (guitar) and Jack Irons (drums) . Although not an original member, Richling has been in the band longer than any other member aside from Dylan, joining in 1996. Elthringham joined in 2005.

The band left Interscope Records in 2005. According to the Reboot The Mission Songfacts, "Glad All Over", The Wallflowers’ first album for over seven years will be released by Columbia on October 2, 2012. The record was recorded at Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville.

2. The Wallflowers is also the name of UK 80's indie pop/jangle band, which released a number of singles.
