Somebody Told You Lyrics

Its always somebody sayin this, somebody sayin that
But never a factSomebody told you I was playin you for a fool
Somebody told you that I was untrue
They keep you guessin of where Im atIts always somebody sayin this, somebody sayin that
But never a factSomebody told you I was runnin around
Somebody said with Mr. Brown across town
If you dont stay sharp you might believe the lieIts always somebody sayin this, somebody sayin that
But never a factOoh, why, why you accept those lies?
Wake up, be smart, open your eyes
If you keep on listenin at em, I know youll see
Theyll convince you that one and one is threeSomebody told you I was runnin around
Somebody said with Mr. Brown across town
If you dont stay sharp you might believe the lieIts always somebody sayin this, somebody sayin that
But never a factIts always somebody sayin this, somebody sayin that
But never a factIts always somebody sayin this, somebody sayin that
But never a fact

Irma Thomas (b. February 18, 1941, Ponchatoula, Louisiana) whose only national chart hit in a 50 year career is 1963's "Wish Someone Would Care", is an enduring, Grammy winning, soul, gospel, rhythm and blues singer from New Orleans. Known as the "Soul Queen of New Orleans", she is a contemporary of Aretha Franklin and Etta James, but did not tour as relentlessly, and industry support and major commercial success eluded her for decades.
