Someone Keeps Calling My Name Lyrics

My name is Jenny and I am four fingers old
Mostly I just try to do the things that I am told
But when they say that I'm too young a girl to ride a bike
I may be just four fingers old but I know what I likeSomeone keeps calling my name
Someone keeps calling my name
Or is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it just that I need a friend
Someone keeps calling my name, my nameMy name is Jason and I'm ten birthdays old
My parents had me years ago to have and to hold
But sometimes they don't talk too much or touch hardly at all
It's strange how two can share a life divided by a wallSomeone keeps calling my name
Someone keeps calling my name
Or is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it just that I need a friend
Someone keeps calling my name, my nameMy name is Jonathon, I'm fifty seasons old
I say it that way 'cause I love the changes each year holds
But as I look around I see some changes nature never planned
I guess it's time to change ourselves, at least while we still canSomeone keeps calling my name

Someone keeps calling my name
Or is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it just that I need a friend
Someone keeps calling my name, my nameMy name is Jaime, fifteen years I've been to young
Is it time to taste the truth and toss it off my tongue?
The world has come a-calling and it's bleeding at my door
Am I supposed to turn away, or is this what I'm here for?Someone keeps calling my name
Someone keeps calling my name
Is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it that I'm looking for a friend
Someone keeps calling my name, my nameSomeone keeps calling my name
Someone keeps calling my name
Or is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it just that I need a friendSomeone keeps calling my name
Someone keeps calling my name
Or is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it just that I need a friendSomeone keeps calling my name
Well, someone keeps calling my name
Or is it just the rustling of the wind, you can tell me now
Or is it just that I need a friendSomeone keeps calling my name, I can hear loud
Someone keeps calling my name, oh baby
Or is it just the rustling of the wind
Or is it just that I need a friend

Harry Chapin (December 7, 1942 – July 16, 1981) was an American singer and songwriter. Chapin's debut album, Heads and Tales (1972), was a success thanks to the single "Taxi". His follow-up album, Sniper and Other Love Songs, was less successful; but his third, Short Stories, was a major success. Verities & Balderdash, released soon after, was even more successful, bolstered by the chart-topping hit single "Cat's in the Cradle". He also wrote and performed a Broadway musical, The Night That Made America Famous.

In the mid 1970s, Chapin focused on social activism, including raising money to combat hunger in the United States and co-founding the organization World Hunger Year, before returning to music with On the Road to Kingdom Come. He also released a book of poetry, Looking...Seeing, in 1977.

His fellow Long Islanders loved him for his support of local artists, as well. He and his wife Sandy raised funds for the Performing Arts Foundation, a now-defunct local theatre group. They also supported the Long Island Ballet. The band shell at Huntington's Hecksher Park is named for Harry Chapin.

Chapin died on July 16, 1981 in an automobile accident on the Long Island Expressway at the age of 38. He was headed west from Huntington Bay, where he lived with his wife and three children, to perform a concert in Eisenhower Park in Nassau County when his car was struck by a truck. An autopsy showed that he had suffered a heart attack, but it could not be determined whether that occurred before or after the collision. Supermarkets General, the owner of the truck, paid $12 million in the ensuing litigation.
