Something's Gotta Give Lyrics

Jenny's got a job, a cat named Jake
Thirty-one candles on her birthday cake
Next yearI thought by now she'd have a man
Two car-seats in a minivan
But it still ain't here, hey, oh yeahShe's been looking for Mr. Right so long
But all she's found is Mr. Wrong
And that's the pitsShe's drawn a line that she won't cross
Her and time are facing off
She says, something's gotta giveSomething's gotta give me butterflies
Something's gotta make me feel alive
And something's gotta give me dreams at night
Something's gotta make me feel alrightI don't know where it is
Yeah, but something's gotta give
Something's gotta giveFriday night she had a date
Cell phone junky, a half hour late
Yeah, that's the biz, babyShe's ridin' out this twist of fate
She's had all that she can take
She says, something's gotta giveHey, something's gotta give me butterflies

Something's gotta make me feel alive
Yeah, something's gotta give me dreams at night
Something's gotta make me feel alrightI don't know where it is
Yeah, but something's gotta giveI swear, there's got to be a meant to be
For me out there somewhere, someday
I'm gonna find someone, somehow, somewayJenny's got a job, a cat named Jake
Thirty-one candles on her birthday cake
Next yearShe thought by now she'd have a man
Two car-seats and a minivan
She says something's got
Something's got, something's gottaSomething's gotta give me butterflies
Something's gotta make me feel alive
Yeah, something's gotta give me dreams at night
Something's gotta make me feel alrightI don't know where it is
Yeah, but something's gotta
I don't know where it is
Yeah, but something's gotta
I don't know where it is
Yeah, but something's gotta give

Rimes emerged with her first single, "Blue," when she was just thirteen years old in 1996. She is most recognized for her crossover hit "How Do I Live" which, according to the Billboard charts, is one of the most successful songs in American music history, spending 69 weeks on the charts, more than any other song in American history. While country singer Trisha Yearwood's version of the song won a Grammy in 1998, Rimes' version outsold Yearwood's by millions of copies.
