Sometimes It's Only Love Lyrics

I am still your friend
Standin' by to catch you
If ever life should let you down
And you should fall
You don't need to pretend
If ever doubt should find you
I don't need to remind you
I'm there for you before and after all
I am who I am
And I would never fool you
I feel the same way you do
About honesty
But do we understand
How love is sometimes jaded
It keeps us separated
Even though we'll never part
So to be lovers
We've got to understand

Today is how today begins
Tomorrow's how it ends
And to be lovers
Some things we rise above
'Cause sometimes love is wonderful
But sometimes it's only love
Loving who I am
Is something that you've taught me
The kind of love you've brought me
Takes me through the day
And even though our minds
Are sometimes disagreeing
Our hearts they're still believing
We'll work it out and stay
So to be lovers
We've got to understand
Today is how today begins
Tomorrow's how it ends
And to be lovers
Some things we rise above
'Cause sometimes love is wonderful
But sometimes it's only love
I knew that one day
It would be only love
It would be only
It would be only love
I knew that in time
It would be only love
It would be only love
And to be lovers
We've got to understand
Today is how today begins
Tomorrow's how it ends
And to be lovers
Some things we rise above
'Cause sometimes love is wonderful
But sometimes it's only love
I knew that one day
It would be only love
It would be only
It would be only love
'Cause sometimes love is wonderful
But sometimes it's only love

Luther Ronzoni Vandross (April 20, 1951 - July 1, 2005) was an american soul and rnb singer whose career spanned four decades.

In the 70s, he worked as a backing singer Chic and for David Bowie (on the Young Americans album). He later found success as a solo artist with Superstar and A House Is Not A Home.

In the 80s, Vandross was a vocalist on early Change singles (Searching), whilst continuing his solo career with such releases as "Never Too Much", "Power Of Love/Love Power", "If Only For One Night", "Here And Now".

In the 90s, he was more famous for duets with Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey (amongst others), than for his solo work.

It was an ongoing battle with his weight that may have ultimately proved his undoing. He suffered a stroke in 2003, from which he never really recovered, and died in 2005.

During his career, he sold 25 million albums and won eight Grammy awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four times. He won four Grammy awards in 2004, including the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for the track "Dance With My Father," co-written with Richard Marx.
