Song for Amy Lyrics

Well my words they may sound familiar
Like ones you may have heard before
But when I tried to write you a love song
I simply could think of nothing moreI love you, I want you and I need you
I'd love to have you by my side
I love you, I want you and I need you
Your love gives my soul a place to hideI've thought of different ways to tell you
Words however come up short
Of the way I really feel about you
Of the way you're always on my mindHow can I say it any different
The words they all mean the sameI love you, I want you and I need you
A rose is still a rose by another nameThe words of those who've come before me
May have sparkled on the page and made you high
All I know is the thought of life without you
Is enough to make the strongest man cryAmy when I speak to you please listen
Smile, laugh or cry but don't walk awayI love you, I want you and I need you
Please tell me that you feel the sameMy words they may sound familiar
Like ones you may have heard before

But never were they said with such conviction
I know they will ring true forever moreI love you, I want you and I need you
I'd love to have you by my side
I love you, I want you and I need you
Your love gives my soul a place to hide

Around the time Jack Ingram started writing songs and performing, he was studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. "Music and psychology come from the same place," he says. "It's about studying why people tick. I write songs to figure out my world, why people act the way they do, why they make the decisions they do."
Lucky for us, Ingram chose a career in music-and discovered an altogether different kind of therapy. He weaved his questions about life into songs whose depth and incisive wit were matched only by their melodic resonance and insistent hooks.
