Southern Lyrics

I remember that Monday morning
When I was subpoenaed to be in courtMany things ran through my mind
I started thinking about the people
All day long, trying to think
Of something to say to the peopleAre you ready for the question?
All in favor, let it be known by standing on you feetI want young men and young women
Who are not alive today
But who will come into this world
With new privileges and new opportunitiesI want them to know and see
That these new privileges and opportunities
Did not come without somebody
Suffering and sacrificing forFreedom is never given to anybodyLike anybody, I would like to live a long life
Longevity has its place
But I'm not concerned about that now
I just want to do God' willAnd He has allowed me
To go up to the mountain
And I've looked over
And I've seen the promise landI may not get there with you

But I want you to know tonight
That we as a people
Will get to the promise landSo I'm happy tonight
I'm not worried about anything
I'm not fearing any man
Mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the coming of the LordGlory Hallelujah, glory Hallelujah
Glory Hallelujah, glory Hallelujah
