Southside Lyrics

I spit my day right off a holiday broke and disgusted
With out enough money to buy food but I'm smoking so fuck it
Hit the school yard I would hard because I am larger then life
Close smoky eyes shining cause I am high as a kite fuck itHigh school teachers I am a man of respect
South acres baby gangstas the man of respect
Fuck the school vice principal he shieved I'm leaving
Told my momma about my dope case and my momma believed himNow my daddy got a problem with my education
So shy where the fuck mine let him know what they facin'
Got the doctors who studied this but niggaz would doubt it
Probably take shrink at night time then you out of itI see the same thing flash change violent
And mother fuckers caught in that chain remain silent
So why you figure I've be standing here shaking
Because the devils is close to taking me but I can't face himMy soul is controlled by the blessings of God
Still scared to walk the first ground because the devil is in charge
Somebody help the Lord soul find Saviour
'Cause I'm standing on the corner with a tech nine for the hole behaviorThey want to take me out the game like rider
But you youngsters better stop and peep game because my game wider
I send this out to those who thought that they cook

Cold as fuck when it came to the game and my game doneSouthside, south south side
Southside, south south side
Southside, south south side
Southside, south south side
You know what I am saying

Scarface (born Brad Jordan, November 9, 1970) is a rapper from the South Acres neighborhood in Houston, Texas, originally known for his work as a member of the Geto Boys. He has been a solo artist since 1991, becoming one of the most popular southern rappers in the business although maintaining ties to the Geto Boys. He is known for his sometimes unique and exaggerated voice and rapping technique.

Recording as Akshen, he began his career recording solo for Rap-A-Lot Records, a local label in Houston, Texas. In the late 1980s, he joined the Geto Boys as they were forming and released We Can't Be Stopped, a highly successful LP that garnered the Geto Boys a large fanbase, in spite of their ultra-violent lyrics keeping them far from radio and MTV. Akshen changed his name to Scarface (he even changed his flow from a rapid-fire Kool G Rap-like delivery to normal flow, this time with a darker tone), after the film Scarface, saying he felt that the main character of the movie was just like him in many ways. Scarface soon released his debut solo album, Mr. Scarface Is Back. The album was a success, and Scarface's popularity soon overshadowed the other Geto Boys.

Scarface left the group and released a series of solo albums that kept him in the public view in spite of decreasing sales. He turned this around with 2000's Last of a Dying Breed, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews and sales, and earned him Lyricist of the Year at the Source Awards. In 2002 he released The Fix, the critically acclaimed follow up to Last of a Dying Breed. In 2007 he released Made which overall recieved very positive reviews.
