Spirit Voices Lyrics

We sailed up a river, wild as a sea
Slept on the banks on the leaves of a banyan tree
And all of these spirit voices rule the nightSome stories are magical, meant to be sung
Songs from the mouth of the river when the world was young
And all of these spirit voices rule the nightBy moon we walk to the Brujo's door
Along a path of river stones
Women with their nursing children seated on the floor
We join the fevers and the broken bonesCandlelight flickers the falcon calls
A lime green lizard scuttles down the cabin wall
And all of these spirit voicesSing rain water, sea water, river water, holy water
Wrap this child in mercy heal her
Heaven's only daughter
All of these spirit voices rule the nightMy hands were numb, my feet were lead
I drank a cup of herbal brew
Then the sweetness in the air
Combined with the lightness in my head
An' I heard the jungle breathing in the bambooSaudacoes
D'a lic'enca um momento

Te lembr'o
Que amanha
Ser'a tudo ou ser'a naoa
Depende, cora, cao
Ser'a breve ou ser'a grande
Depende da paixao
Ser'a sujo, ser'a sonho
Cuidado, cora, cao
Ser'a 'util, ser'a tarde
Se esmera, cora, cao
E confia
Na for,ca do amanhaThe Lord of the earthquake
My trembling bed
The spider resumes the rhythm
On it's golden thread
And all of these spirit voices rule the night

And all of these spirit voices rule the night

And all of these spirit voices rule the night

Paul Frederic Simon (born October 13, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He first gained world-wide recognition as the writing talent behind the popular American folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel formed with fellow musician Art Garfunkel. When Simon & Garfunkel split in 1970, Simon quickly began his solo career with the release of the self-titled album, Paul Simon. This was followed by There Goes Rhymin' Simon and Still Crazy After All These Years, both of which featured chart-topping hits such as Loves Me Like A Rock and Kodachrome. In 1986 Simon released the immensely popular Graceland, which featured the groundbreaking use of African rhythms and performers Ladysmith Black Mambazo. In 1990, he followed up Graceland with the successor album The Rhythm of the Saints which featured Brazilian and Cajun musical themes. These albums helped to popularize world music as a genre.

He co-wrote the unsuccessful, but critically-acclaimed musical The Capeman with Nobel-winning poet Derek Walcott in 1997. His most recent album, Surprise, was produced by Brian Eno.

Paul Simon still tours occasionally, both as a solo artist and with his old musical partner Art Garfunkel. He is married to Edie Brickell.

In 1994 Paul Simon held 14 sold out concerts in Nantes (France) with International professional fusion players: Nino Manore (Italy), Francis Mc Gowan (UK), Gissele Masarde (France), Nikša Sviličić (Croatia), and others.
