Start The Show Lyrics

Now lets start the show
Step out of the cold
We come from the go
To the top of the globeThe pimps and the hoes
The foes and the stones
Whoever you rap for, we back for some more
Get back to the show, you knowLadies and gentlemen the C-O double-M O-N
Synonym for fresh, truth is the emblemHard core since I was next door to Cleminem
Cold as the winter when fake niggas is shiverin
Shakin in they Timberlands, you as played as Bennigans
Hot for a minute now you just dont remember himIve been a master since P was no limitin
Stick to sayin, no gimmickin, no mimickin
Q infinitin down old blocks spendin' it
Yall have fucked the police like Ren and themPelican brief these niggas on who I be
Before the paper and the fame niggas knew Rashid
Noble like Drew Ali, many have come
But few have been chose to be a true emceeYou sing along with it inside you knowin its wack
Yung who? Oh, he the openin' actNow lets start the show

Step out of the cold
We come from the go
To the top of the globeThe pimps and the hoes
The foes and the stones
Whoever you rap for, we back for some more
Get back to the show, you knowL-l-let's go, its a festival in hip hop, we do it non-stop
Pop your bottles, Chicago niggas do it in staccato
Choppin notes from our homies, fuck a model
And Ferragamo whose shoes givin dudes the motto
Think fast, drive slow, survival is the throttleYour life sure is hollow, shoulda kept it local
Rappin over vocals, sound as soft as JoJo
With twelve monkeys on stage its hard to see whos a gorilla
You was better as a drug dealerFeel the passion of this b-boy Rashid now
Half of it is what you say and half is style
Guess its time for you to start cashin out
Its overfull, tell you guys to put the glasses downMass is now, first its touch the youth like the Catholic priests
Performances keep me stackin the sheetsNow lets start the show
Step out of the cold
We come from the go
To the top of the globeThe pimps and the hoes
The foes and the stones
Whoever you rap for, we back for some more
Get back to the show, you know([Incomprehensible] lets go Chicago!)
(Cmon, yall can make more noise than that!)
(Get loud yall, get loud yall)
(Get loud yall, get loud yall)
(Dont you get louder than that?)
(Louder, louder!)

Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. (born March 13, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois), better known by his stage name Common (previously Common Sense), is a Grammy award winning rapper, author and actor known for lyrics that focus on love and spirituality. Signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, many people describe him as being a conscious hip hop artist who makes songs that send a message. He debuted in 1992 with the album Can I Borrow a Dollar? and maintained a significant underground following into the late 90s, after which he gained notable mainstream success through his work with the soulquarians.

As well as music, Common has worked as an actor, on the films 'Smokin' Aces' (as Sir Ivy) 'American Gangster' (as Turner Lucas) and 'Wanted'. He may also be seen in cameo roles in films such as 'Brown Sugar'.

His debut was the 1992 album Can I Borrow A Dollar, but he achieved little critical or commercial success until 1994's Resurrection, an instant classic. He produced several more albums, notably Like Water For Chocolate and the highly experimental Electric Circus, before releasing the Kanye West and J Dilla-produced Be in 2005, which was his first album to receive widespread mainstream appeal and radio playtime.

Common is considered a "cred" artist, which has lead him to collaborations with the likes of De La Soul, Jadakiss, T.i, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Kanye West, Lily Allen, Erykah Badu, and Fort Minor.

2007's Finding Forever was produced mainly by long-time collaborator, Kanye West.

Universal Mind Control is the 8th album from Chicago hip-hop artist Common.
