Station 2 Lyrics

Long ago
There was a place
We would go
To celebrate
This was when we were kidsDown the hill
Across the bridge
Into the sand
Beneath the ridge
Just below PCHStumbling all the way
Stumbling all the way
We pulled our sheets
And stuffed our beds
With dirty clothes
And helmet heads
We snuck out the windowAfter we
Got to the beach
We were out
Of their reach

We dug holes to keep warmWe burned the Times
We burned the TimesAfter all
Those were the times
I'd give
Anything to go back
And stare into her eyes
Years went by
I grew up
My heart was ready
My head was stuck
I ran away as far as I couldThere was a girl
I left behind
I'll never forget
Caroline
Cast aside
I never told her whyI watched her cry
I watched her cryWhen I finally moved back
I drove to that street
Up at the top
Where we used to meet
I looked out from the edge of the cliffI thought of the ways
I could pretend
Thought the days
Would never end
Now they're gone
And I'm standing hereLooking down
Looking downAfter all
Those were the times
I'd give
Anything to go back
And stare into her eyes

Spain was formed in Los Angeles in 1993 by Josh Haden (son to jazz legend Charlie Haden). The group released three albums: The Blue Moods of Spain, She Haunts My Dreams and I Believe. Spirituals – The Best of Spain is a collection of some of their most poignant songs (+ two never before released and three live versions). Their song "Spiritual" was covered by Johnny Cash on his 1996 Unchained album, and by Soulsavers on their 2007 release It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land.
