Step Back Lyrics

Appear and fade away
So far so good
And I'll tell you the story this timePlan too far ahead
It's the same old thing
Finally kicking it out this timeTell me where were you?
Now just where were you
When it really mattered like this time?Staring down a haze
It's supposed to be a better day
But it doesn't really matter, not this timeStep back, step back
Just suppose you're
Where you're supposed to be nowStep back, step down
Off that pedestal
And maybe you'll seeLike that time we went back in time
Surface wounds could not scar that
Tough exterior, far superior were youAppear and fade away
So far so good
And I'll tell you the story this timePlanned too far ahead
It's the same old thing

Finally kicking it out this time

Letters to Cleo were an alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts (although they originally started out as a ska band). The band was made up of members Michael Eisenstein, Kay Hanley, Stacy Jones, Greg McKenna, Scott Riebling, and Tom Polce. Their name came from the fact that Hanley had a pen pal named Cleo when she was younger, although the letters she wrote would often be returned. Hanley kept them in a box under her bed marked "Letters to Cleo", and happened to stumble across the box as the band was attempting to think of a name for itself.
