Steve Was Dead Lyrics

It's 12 o'clock
And I'm picking up a phone call
Dan said, Is Steve there?
'Cause no one else can find himHe said he'd heard
That Steve was in a car crash
The word was out
That Steve was dead in a car crash
Dead in a car crashSteve was dead
But it was only for a momentHeard it all
That night I heard it all
It was infectious
But no one really knewThrough the grapevine
We were victims of a rumor
And all along
I knew it wasn't trueNext day at 8 A.M.
I get another phone call
This time it's Steve
And he's laughing at us all, yeahHe thought at first

That everyone was joking
Until he heard the messages
That we were leaving
That we were leavingSteve was dead
But it was only for a momentHeard it all
That night I heard it all
It was infectious
But no one really knewThrough the grapevine
We were victims of a rumor
And all along
I knew it wasn't trueCan't believe it
How rumors spread
Can't believe it
How rumors spreadHeard it all
That night I heard it all
It was infectious
But no one really knewThrough the grapevine
We were victims of a rumor
And all along
I knew it wasn't true
Yeah, all along
I knew it wasn't true

Buck-O-Nine formed in a small warehouse in the early part of 1991. Based in San Diego, the band was on the horizon of a change in the music industry. At the time the catch phrase was “Grunge.” The band was eager to take a different path. With their backgrounds in punk/metal bands, reggae bands and 2nd wave ska bands, Buck-O-Nine had the formula for what was to become a new mutation of sounds. Inspired by the early founders of this new sound, Buck-O-Nine admired the works of Fishbone, Operation Ivy, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the Voodoo Glow Skulls.
