Stone By Stone Lyrics

You always hear the shouts
From my battalion
And send toy soldiers out to
Help me standAnd when I see you hide
Behind those curtain folds
I cross the room to turn the
Lights down lowOn common ground
We'll build our castle walls
We'll build them stone
By stone and howWith more and more
You know it won't take long
Where it burned orange
Let it burn goldI wouldn't like to learn
A lesson everyday
Good times, bad times
It's just the price you payBut given half the chance
Of turning back the tide
I'll stay at home and keep

My boys in lineOn common ground
We'll build our castle walls
We'll build them stone
By stone and howAnd more and more
You know it won't take long
Where it burned orange
Let it burn goldAnd given half the chance
To turn the hands of time
I'm always the bridesmaid
Couldn't live with myself
If I tried to be the brideOn common ground
We'll build our castle walls
We'll build them stone
By stone and howWith more and more
You know it won't take long
Where it burned orange
Let it burn goldOn common ground
We'll build our castle walls
We'll build them stone
By stone and howWith more and more
You know it won't take long
Where it burned orange
Let it burn goldOn common ground
We'll build our castle walls
We'll build them stone
By stone and howWith more and more
You know it won't take long
Where it burned orange
Let it burn goldOn common ground
We'll build our castle walls
We'll build them stone

Catatonia were an alternative rock band from Cardiff, Wales formed in 1992. They consisted of Cerys Matthews (vocals), Mark Roberts (guitar), Owen Powell (guitar), Paul Jones (bass) and Aled Richards (drums). They split in 2001. Catatonia was formed in 1992, reputedly after songwriter Mark Roberts heard Cerys busking in Cardiff city centre. They had considerable success, their most famous hits being "Mulder and Scully", "Road Rage" and "Dead From The Waist Down". In September 2001, Cerys announced her departure from Catatonia after bouts of exhaustion and anxiety.
