Strange Street Affair Under Blue Lyrics

Just for you with your open hands
Waiting for the touch of man
Clutching with your blackened gloves
You try to capture all the dovesThat flee into
The forest before youYou wish to catch and cage me now
I wonder if you remember how
Hard it was to say the names
Of mirror dreams and cheated gamesAnd on the wall
You framed your first loverYour form intrigues me with its glow
I'll remember you I know
Though I forgot to lock the chain
Around you with a prayer for rainTo bring the call
To drive you back into my bedShe turns away
Telling me to follow for a while
She waitsYou'd be touched if you would touch
But you only reach and taunt
Will my taste, stay gray and blue
If I try to turn from you

Timothy Charles Buckley III (February 14, 1947 – June 29, 1975) was an experimental vocalist and performer who incorporated jazz, psychedelia, funk, soul, and avant-garde rock, in a short career spanning the late 1960s and early 1970s, ending with his death at age 28 from an alcohol-heroin overdose. Buckley often regarded his tenor voice as an instrument, a talent most noticeable on his albums Happy Sad, Lorca, and Starsailor.
