Streets Lyrics

As darkness falls so hard
Come and play, yeahSomewhere, out there
Alone and out of place
Streets of illusion
Sooth the shattered faithI've been a runner, I've been a sinner
I've been inside my head
I sit here staring, never quite caring
And this is where it has ledThese streets glitter in the dark
Don't sleep, red eyes sunken and stark
Dream deep, in her arms where you are safe
These streets never sleep still they never wakeSomewhere out there
Gardens bloom and grow
Children awaken
To a world they knowSomewhere there's sunshine
Somewhere the light's kind
Somewhere they seek the daySomewhere there's no scene
Somewhere the air's clean
But somewhere is so far awayThese streets glitter in the dark

Don't sleep, red eyes sunken and stark
Dream deep, in her arms where you are safe
These streets never sleep still they never wakeSomewhere the light is kind, is kind
No, oh yeahWelcome children
From the other side
In the darkness
Your eyes are opened wideHere there are answers on the edge dancers
Here the night hides our sins
And if you listen while the streets glisten
Here's where our story beginsThese streets glitter in the dark
Don't sleep, red eyes sunken and stark
Dream deep, in her arms where you are safe
These streets never sleep still they never wake

Savatage is a heavy metal/progressive metal band founded by the brothers Jon and Criss Oliva in 1979. The band is known for recording many rock operas. Early on, Savatage was a traditional heavy metal band, who stood out from the pack due to guitarist Criss Oliva's uncommonly heavy riffing and vocalist Jon Oliva's unique vocal stylings. Following the failure of Fight for the Rock, an attempt to commercialize their sound, Savatage began moving in a more operatic direction, releasing a number of rock opera albums in collaboration with producer Paul O'Neill.
