Stupid World Lyrics

We wrote on the sidewalk
When no one was watching
"This way to the ocean"
And she took her clothes off
And waved at the traffic
But nobody noticed
It was a stupid world
La da da da da da
La da da da da da, la da da
A train leaves at midnight
There's light in the hallway
And bags on the curb now
Where kids dress like soldiers
And bombs fill the windows
We'll marry in winter
In a stupid world
La da da da da da
La da da da da da, la da da

Soon the trees will be green again
And the sun will be out
Birds will return again from the south
Some suffer a blandness
A wild disappoint
Despite good intentions
I showed her my scars then
She showed me her bruises
Yeah, someone's salvation
In a stupid world, la da da da da da
La da da da da da, la da da

Matthew Ryan (born November 7, 1971) is an American singer-songwriter hailing from Newark, Delaware whose music can be roughly characterized as alternative country. Ryan also collaborated with Neilson Hubbard to form the band Strays Don't Sleep. Ryan's voice has been described as a "hushed rasp, with words catching like vows destined to be broken - one of modern music's most potent whispers." Perhaps the most underrated singer/songwriter of the past 12 years, Matthew Ryan arrived on the music scene in 1997 with Mayday.
