Sugar Boogie Lyrics

Way down south at harvest time
People up and down the line
Smell that kettle, piping hot
Just a little bit will hit the spotPut it in your coffee, put it in your tea
Sprinkle it on your pastry
Cook it up or melt it down
Serve it white or serve it brownUh huh, a little sugar, yeah, a little sugar
A little sugar makes your day complete
Uh huh, a little sugar, yeah, a little sugar
A little sugar, it ain't nothing but sweet
If you're down and need a pick me up
Put a teaspoon in your cup
If it is romance you seek
Give it to your mama right on the cheekUh huh, a little sugar, yeah, a little sugar
A little sugar makes your day complete
Uh huh, a little sugar, yeah, a little sugar
A little sugar, it ain't nothing but sweetSlow as molassas, just as thick
Red and white like a peppermint stick

You can keep your mustard greens
Just give me those pecan pralinesHear that music, it's the taffy man
All those kids with money in their hands
Follow that wagon down the street
Getting that candy they love to eat
Uh huh, a little sugar, yeah, a little sugar
A little sugar makes your day complete
Uh huh, a little sugar, yeah, a little sugar
A little sugar, it ain't nothing but sweet
