Summer Of '98 Lyrics

I wrote some songs 'cause I love her
Then played some shows in the suburbs
It was the middle of summer in Texas
I was feeling pretty good then
Everything worked out at school then
I was feeling like a champ in summer
This, this could be the summer, the summer of love
And this, this could be the summer when I grow up
I wanted to be just like him
He looked just like all the cool kids
I wanted to wear what he wore in summer
I was feeling pretty good then
Everything worked out at school then
I was feeling like champ in summer
Okay
This, this could be the summer, the summer of love
And this, this could be the summer when I grow up
This, this could be the summer, the summer of love

And this, this could be the summer when I grow up
It's never been like this, I am just starting over
It's never been like this, I am just starting over
This, this could be the summer, the summer of love
And this, this could be the summer when I grow up
This, this could be the summer, the summer of love
And this, this could be the summer when I grow up

Since 2004, luis dubuc (a.k.a. The Secret Handshake) has penned and recorded scores of songs by himself. His signature electronic-pop sound landed him the sort of success many in the indie circuit could only wish for.

But for his latest full-length, Dubuc wasn’t going to find himself recording another batch of similar tracks. Enter Night & Day, As Dubuc quite succinctly describes Night & Day, “it’s a Motown record, man.”

“I wanted to take a chance,” Dubuc continues. “I wanted to take a risk on this record. I want to challenge people. I feel like it’s a special record. I feel like it has the potential to really move people to make people feel good about situations in their lives. It’s a soul record. I wanted an authentic sound with the new style."

“My voice is still very much 2010 but the music is very much Motown… If there’s ever all-encompassing Motown revival record, this is it.”
