Sweet Gene Vincent Lyrics

Blue gene babySkinny white sailor, the chances were slender,
The beauties were brief
Shall I mourn your decline with some thunderbird wine
And a black handkerchief?
I miss your sad virginia whisper,
I miss the voice that called my heartSweet gene vincent
Young and old and gone
Sweet gene vincent
Who, who, who slapped john?White face, black shirt
White socks, black shoes
Black hair, white strat
Bled white, died blackSweet gene vincent
Let the blue caps roll tonight
At the sock hop ball in the union hall
Where the bop is their delightHere come duck-tail danny dragging uncanny annie,
She's the one with the flying feet
You can break the peace, daddy sickle grease
But the beat is reet complete

And the jump-back honey in the dungarees,
Tight sweater and a pony-tail
Will you guess her age when she comes back-stage,
The hoodlums bite their nailsBlack gloves, white frost
Black crpe, white lead
White sheet, black knight
Jet black, dead whiteSweet gene vincent
There's one in every town
And the devil drives till the hearse arrives
And you lay the pistol downSweet gene vincent
With nowhere left to hide
With lazy skin and ash-tray eyes
And perforated prideSail away, boys
Take me home
Country roadsSo farewell, mademoiselle knicker-bocker hotel
Goodbye to money owed
When your leg still hurts, but you need more shirts
You got to get back on the roadSweet gene vincent
Sweet gene vincent
Sweet gene vincent
Sweet gene vincentWhen your leg still hurts, but you need more shirts
You got to get back on the road

Robert Peter Williams (born 13 February 1974, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire) is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer. While Williams' early pop career started with the hit boy band Take That, he has found far greater success since taking his leave in 1995. Williams has sold over 70 million records worldwide, which ranks him among the best-selling music artists worldwide. He is the best-selling British solo artist in the United Kingdom and the best selling non-Latino artist in Latin America.

Six of his albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the United Kingdom. He has also been honoured with seventeen BRIT Awards—more than any other artist—and seven ECHO Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted as the "Greatest Artist of the 1990s."

The Candy Songfacts reports that Williams teamed up with his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, to write the first single from his ninth studio album, Take The Crown. "Candy" will be released October 29, 2012.
