Sweet Sensation - Radio Edit - D'wys

A new musical crew, a new feeling, and - coming up soon - a new cd. D'WYS - Hammond organist Carlo de Wijs' band - is putting a whole new twist on things. After cutting two discs that laid down the best of a broad musical spectrum, the emphasis is now on the master's B3 itself. Jazz, funk, soul and a pinch of latin are all part of the recipe.


For Carlo de Wijs, music doesn't have much in the way of borders. He sat in on the world tour of Candy Dulfer's Funky Stuff, raised the roof at Ronnie Scott's London Jazzclub, and has backed up many of the biggest names in the business. In the last few years, this "world musician" has explored any number of musical concepts, with combos including his own beloved D'WYS. On the "O'Beat" cd, he tapped into themes such as soul, jazzdance and gospel.
The disc, "Organtasy", was a contemporary, very personal mix of Hammond-sounds, powerful vocals and fantastic harmonies.


In the new crew, veteran Martin Bakker is back on guitar. Drummer Léon Klaasse and percussionist Marnix Stassen handle the rhythm, while sparkling vocalist Erica v.d. Leuv works the mike. But the fixed point in this musical whirl remains the Hammond-sound and fabulous footwork of Carlo de Wijs.
