Take Me Down to the Infirmary Lyrics

So take me down to the infirmary
Lay me down on cotton sheets
Put a damp cloth on my forehead
Lay me down, let me sleepI know the whiskey, it won't soothe my soul
And the morphine won't heal my heart
But if you take me down to the infirmary, oh yeah
I won't have to sleep or drink aloneSo, take me down to the infirmary
The walk a sound, it's as blue as her eyes
Oh, Sister Magdelene won't you fetch the doctor's flask?
He's gonna need a steady, a steady handI know the whiskey, it won't soothe my soul
And the morphine won't heal my heart
But if you take me down to the infirmary, oh yeah
I won't have to sleep or drink aloneSo take me down to the infirmary
Lay me down on cotton sheets
Put a damp cloth on my forehead
Lay me down, let me sleep
Lay me down, let me sleep

Cracker is an American alternative rock band fronted by Camper Van Beethoven singer David Lowery, with guitarist Johnny Hickman. They are best known for their hit songs "Low" and "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)". The band's website once noted Cracker as "The only band to ever open for both Grateful Dead and Ramones," a unique distinction which is also indicative of the band's sound and style. Cracker comfortably mixes influences and sounds ranging from classic country music, psychedelia, punk and folk into their brand of "americana" style rock.
