Take Possession Lyrics

You can take possession darling
When I hear you say I do
When you slip a ring on my finger
Take possession, I belong to youSome folks give away their love too soon
When their feelings make them blind
But I'll wait until my honeymoon
For I'll still be old fashioned kindYou can take possession darling
When I hear you say I do
When you slip a ring on my finger
Take possession, I belong to youWhen you take me in your arms each night
And you say what I want to know
We can let temptation burn too bright
Even though I do love you soSurely love can wait
If love is great please protect me
When we're alone keep the flame of love real low
My love, till my name's the same as your ownYou can take possession darling
When I hear you say I do
When you slip a ring on my finger

Take possession, I belong to you

Jean Shepard (born November 21, 1933 in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma as Ollie Imogene Shepard)was one of the first female vocalists in the country music field to become a major star in the early 1950's. Shepard's family moved west to Visalia, California in hopes of a better life. In high school, Shepard formed the Melody Ranch Girls, which became locally famous. One night, Country star Hank Thompson saw Shepard performing at a show and liked what he heard. With Thompson's help, Shepard was able to get a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1952.
