Take You to the Water Lyrics

It wasn't the moon, it wasn't the rain, it wasn't the light
Some brilliant angels, Seraphim white
I was over my head and burning like a match stick over the night
Went to the river where the moon was out of sightI'll take you to the water if it make things right
Lay myself beside you, weaver the night a long way through
Always and forever, tell me that it's true
To be loved by you, by you()
If you were my only, then I might only know what to do
If you cannot hold me, then I have something to hold on to
I was over my head and burning like a match stick over the night
Went to the river where the moon was out of sight
I'll take you to the water if it make things right
Lay myself beside you, weaver the night a long way through
Always and forever, tell me that it's true
To be loved by you, by you()
We're going down, down baby to your momma's home
The car is running in the drive-way, but you're not alone
I get lost behind the wheel, hear the screen doors slam

I get lost, I get lost, try to remember who I am
I'll take you to the water if it make things right
Lay myself beside you, weaver the night a long way through
Always and forever, tell me that it's true
To be loved by you, by you

His mother, one of nine sisters, grew up in Mexico in a town so small that "it's just dirt, clay huts, boarded-up buildings...
