Tender Hearted Baby Lyrics

I've got a tender hearted baby and the least little thing will make her cry
That's why tonight I dread to see her cause I'm gonna have to tell her goodbyeThe draft has called and I must go to places far away
And in my heart I know I won't be back for many a day
In three years she'll be out of school and I'll be twenty-three
Tonight I'll ask her through the tears if she will wait for me
I've got a tender hearted baby
'Cause I'm gonna have to tell her goodbye

Proclaimed the International Ambassador of Country Music thanks to his world tours in the '70s, George Hamilton IV began his career in the late '50s as a teen-oriented pop star. After his first hit, "A Rose and a Baby Ruth," hit number six on the pop charts in 1956, he toured with Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers. However, his later pop efforts stalled on the charts, and in 1959, Hamilton joined the Grand Ole Opry.
