Thanks for the Information Lyrics

Thanks for the information
Never give a sucker an even break
When he's breaking through to a new level of consciousness
There always seems to be more obstacles in the wayThanks for the information I know
It's only a combat zone
Thanks for the memory
I'll just have to carry on on my ownAnd it's wonderful and it's marvelous
How we can ever make it through
Sometimes I wonder how we can ever
Make it from day to dayThanks for the information
What you gain on the hobby horse, you lose on the swing
I like mine over easy
And you can have your sunny side upI don't wanna quibble over insignificant details
And I've tried every trick in the book
Thanks for the information
I know I should look before I leapAnd it's wonderful and it's marvelous
How we can ever make it through
Sometimes I wonder how

We can ever make it at allThanks for the information
Never give a sucker an even break
And with her everything light becomes heavy
And everything heavy becomes lightThey took me down to the watering hole
Because I happened to mention, I was dying of thirst
Then they told me, he who believes first will be later
And he who believes later will be firstAnd it's wonderful and it's marvelous
How we can ever make it through
Sometimes I wonder how
We can ever make it at allThanks for the information
Oh, never give a sucker an even break
When you're on to something, it's a dime in
A dozen people start coming out of the woodworkThanks for the invitation
I know I must be on to something big
Every time, I take two steps forward
I end up having to take three backAnd it's wonderful and it's marvelous
How we can ever make it through
Sometimes I wonder how
We can ever make it at allThanks for the information
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
Everything I'm ready for a major breakthrough
I always have to think in terms of better of worseThanks for the information
Thanks for the memory

George Ivan Morrison (generally known as Van Morrison) (born 31 August 1945) is a Grammy Award-winning artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He's a singer, songwriter, author, poet, and multi-instrumentalist, who has been a professional musician since 1958. He plays a variety of instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, keyboards, drums, and saxophone. Featuring his characteristic growl - a unique mix of folk, blues, Irish, scat, and Celtic influences - Morrison is widely considered one of the most unusual and influential vocalists in the history of rock and roll.

Known as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Northern Irish band Them, writing their 1964 hit "Gloria". A few years later, Morrison left the band for a successful solo career, starting with the album Astral Weeks.

Morrison has pursued an idiosyncratic musical path. Much of his music is tightly structured around the conventions of American soul and R&B, such as the popular singles "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Domino", and "Wild Night". An equal part of his catalogue consists of lengthy, loosely connected, spiritually inspired musical journeys that show the influence of Celtic tradition, jazz, and stream-of-consciousness narrative, such as his classic album Astral Weeks and lesser known works such as Veedon Fleece and Common One. The two strains together are sometimes referred to as "Celtic Soul," and Morrison rejects the characterization of his genre of music as Rock, citing Elvis Presley as a non-influence.

He continues to perform regularly, and achieved his highest U.S. chart position (number ten on the Billboard 200) with his latest album, Keep It Simple.
