The Bell Lyrics

There is a sleeping dog
Under this dialogue
Obedient only to rhyme
And if I could beckon her
If I could find the words
All they would be is lies
Tell me why this failure is making you smileThen off goes the bell ringing through my head
Signifies that all's been said
This failure is making you smile
Off goes the bell ringing through my head
There is a passenger
In every useless word
That can never be twisted or sold
Center of my skin
The body of discipline
It must be a million years old
I've been told you're offering more than you oweThen off goes the bell ringing through my head
Signifies that all's been said

You're offering more than you owe
Off goes the bell ringing through my head
Then off goes the bell ringing through my head
Signifies that all's been said
Off goes the bell ringing through my headThen off goes the bell ringing through my head
Signifies that all's been said
Off goes the bell ringing through my head

Their debut album Becoming a Jackal was released in 2010 and was shortlisted for that year's Mercury Prize and their second album {Awayland} was released in 2013. Conor O'Brien formed Villagers after the break-up of his previous band The Immediate. The very next day, O'Brien wrote the first song after waking up with a hangover.
