The Coldest Days of My Life Lyrics

I remember, oh yeah
The signs of springtime
There were birds, music
Everywhere, everywhereSome of us played, oh yeah
And some of us cried
Can't you see? Oh, can't you see
the tears in my eyes? And what I had dreamed of, oh Lord
I thought it was here, yeah
Ten feet tall. Oh, I was riding so high
With eyes of a child, oh
Shining so bright, yes they wereColdest days of my life
They were the coldest days of my life
I had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
The cold, coldest days of my life
I thought there was no other no, no, no, noLord, take away the pain
Oh You know, You know
That it falls like rain
And it couldn't be much worse

Down belowDown below
(Ooh down below)
Low
(Ooh down below)
It just couldn't be that bad
(Ooh down below)
It just couldn't be that bad
(Ooh down below)
Oh no no
(Ooh down below)
Here down below
(Ooh down below)
It's cold outside yeah yeah yeah yeah
(Ooh down below)
Save me, save me, save me, save me
Yeah, yeah, yeah
(Ooh down below)
It's cold outside
(Ooh down below)
Somebody help me. Help me, help me
Baby, baby, babeI remember oh yeah yeah
The signs of springtime
I'm trying to keep the past behind me
But voices suddenly remind me
That she's gone
She's what I had dreamed of
Oh, she's all that I think ofColdest days of my life
They were the coldest days of my life
Thought there was no other no, no, no, no
The cold, coldest days of my life
I had to run for cover yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahThe cold, coldest days of my life
I had to run for cover yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
The coldest days of my life
I thought there was no other no, no, no, no

The Chi-Lites were a Chicago-based smooth soul vocal quartet from the early 1970s, one of the few from the period to not come from Memphis or Philadelphia. They were led by Eugene Record, and scored eleven Top Ten R&B hits, in the early part of the decade. The group formed in the late 1950s when The Chanteurs (Record, Robert "Squirrel" Lester, and Clarence Johnson) teamed up with Marshall Thompson and Creadel "Red" Jones to form The Hi-lites. Wishing to add a tribute to their home town of Chicago, they changed their name to the Chi-Lites" in 1964.
