The Cry of Eugene Lyrics

Harlequin, Columbine Speakers three
Their spirits can be found to wander
The Cry of three plus two times nothing at all
Splits all times mine, a sunderThe cry of Eugene fills the air
His spirit can be found to wander
Rancid atmosphere with despair
His sense of urgency asks allHarlequin, Columbine Speakers three
Their spirits can be found to wander
The Cry of three plus two times nothing at all
Splits all times mine, a sunder
The cry of Margret with the golden hair
Looks down to Eugene and shoots the spell
????
Asks who, why, what, where once one of the kindHarlequin, Columbine Speakers three
Their spirits can be found to wander
The Cry of three plus two times nothing at all
Splits all times mine, a sunderHarlequin, Columbine Speakers three
Their spirits can be found to wander

The Cry of three plus two times nothing at all
Splits all times mine, a sunderThe voice of Eugene cuts through air
His gaze commands everyone to wander
The voice he speaks dispel all ?
But Eugene is always there
Harlequin, Columbine Speakers three
Their spirits can be found to wander
The Cry of three plus two times nothing at all
Splits all times mine, a sunder

The Nice were a late Sixties progressive / psychedelic rock band. While they did not last more than three years, they were a major influence in bridging the gap between the psychedelic rock of the Sixties and the progressive rock of the Seventies. Led by keyboard maestro Keith Emerson (later of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) they were one of the first bands to fuse rock with an orchestra. The band were infamous for being banned from playing the Royal Albert Hall in 1968 when Emerson set fire to an American flag when playing the song America, originally by Sondheim and Bernstein.
