The Escape Lyrics

Another fall to keep the sunshine out of sight.
Another wrong just to forget how to be right.
Another mourning 'cause I can't escape the night.
You know me well, but I still got a place to hide.A new beginning takes me closer to the end.
Shivering fingers lost their grip on this old pen.
How did it come to this, I can't remember when.
Please take me back, it was so simple way back then. Are we too scared to move on?
Are we ending up alone?
You can put me down, never shut me up.
Until I'm on my own.Won't put my blame on what I'd call a broken home.
Heart-breaking memories when she hung up the phone.
The only reason for this misery is me.
But all I long for is a reason to believe.I'm much too old now to complain just like you did.
I've should have spoken up when I was just a kid.
'Cause now the only voice I hear inside my head,
Is filled with silence that I scream with every breath.I am not a victim can't you see.
Don't you go and blame no one but me.
Better safe than sorry I believe.

A wounded cause from all these memories.Too scared to move on.
Ending up alone.
Put me down. Shut me up.
Cause now I am on my own.

Goldenboy is one of the following: 1. An indie pop band that toured with Elliott Smith. During that time, Smith took to calling frontman Shon Sullivan by the nickname "Goldenboy." The name stuck as Sullivan developed his sound and added members to the Goldenboy lineup. Smith was instrumental in getting the band's first album, "Blue Swan Orchestra," recorded. Goldenboy recently released a follow up record, entitled "Underneath the Radio," including guest spots from Neil Finn, Lisa Germano and Matt Sharp (The Rentals).
