The Fans Lyrics

Before we ever made the headlines
Or toured the concert halls
We survived our share of bar rooms
Stared at many motel wallsThe years in Carolina
And all the one night stands
What kept the fires a burnin'
Back then, was you the fansWe two stepped out to Texas
Round and round the dance hall floors
Played the fair in Minnesota
I wish we could've played one moreWe hope you remember
We're just the boys in the band
And what keeps the fires a burnin'
Is always, you the fansI wish this night could last forever
Ah, but the show must go on
And we'll take home the memories
And we'll leave you with our songsIt's been good to see ya'll
Can we come back again? And again, and again
What keeps the fires a burnin'

In us, is you the fansAs long as you remember
The boys in the band
We'll keep the fires a burnin'
For all of you, our fans

Alabama is a country music band from Fort Payne, Alabama that was started in 1969 but did not get a recording contract until 1977. Alabama began by singing for tips around Myrtle Beach before going on to sell millions of records. They were among the first successful country groups since the mid-1970s, thanks to their blend of contemporary and traditional country and southern rock. On July 4-93 they opened a $7-million, 2,200-seat theater, located in Barefoot Landing-Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

The members of Alabama are:

- Randy Owen (vocals and rhythm guitar)
- Teddy Gentry, (vocals and bass guitar)
- Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin)
- Mark Herndon (drums and percussion)

Along with the Oak Ridge Boys and the Statler Brothers, Alabama is recognized as having paved the way for today's top country groups, including Diamond Rio, Lonestar and Rascal Flatts.
