The Gap Lyrics

Wake up in a strange land
One of forty thieves
And I see for the first time
Just what you believeI go down to the market
Where I can buy or sell
And I listen to the chanting
And all the lies that wise ones tellThey say, "East is east, west is west"
Two different colors on the map
We say, "Break the line, chew the fat"
Keep moving out into the gapBeggars in the backstreet's
There for all the world to leave
It's you that's begging for attention
Well it's all the same to meAnd I won't ask permission
Not from teachers or from kings
'Cos I can see for myself
Well all the pain that you will bringWhen you say, "East is east, west is west"
Two different rhythms to the map
You say, "Break the line, chew the fat"

Keep moving out into the gap, heyMove, move, move, move
Let's move, let's move, let's move, let's move
Let's move, let's move, let's move, let's move
Let's move, let's move, let's move, let'sEast is east, west is west
Two different colors on the map
You say, "Break the line, chew the fat"
Keep moving out into the gapCan you smell the perfume
Of a hundred thousand years?
Dare you look into the eyes
That hide a hundred million tears?Oh, there's no need to be so frightened
Of all the figures in the night
'Cos we shared the same emotions
And no one's wrong and no one's rightWhen they say, "East is east, west is west"
Two different colors on the map
We say, "Break the line, chew the fat"
Keep moving out into the gapThey say, "East is east, west is west"
Two different colors on the map
We say, "Break the line, chew the fat"
Keep moving out into the gapThey say, "East is east, west is west"
Two different rhythms to the map
We say, "Break the line, chew the fat"
Keep moving out into the gap

Thompson Twins were an English new wave band. The band formed in April 1977, and disbanded in May 1993. Massively popular in the mid-1980s, the band scored a string of hits in the UK, broke into the U.S. and Canada and enjoyed huge popularity around the globe.
