The Girl Is Gone Lyrics

The girl is gone, the girl is gone
The girl is gone, the girl is goneExchanging love for an empty glass
Strangers touching and strangers laugh
When it's gone and the night has passed
I only think that I can talkFingerprints on a dusty walk
Remind me of what went before
And shadows dance on the bedroom floor
Edges life puts on a distant shoreBut I was wrong thinking that I'd be strong
Always wanting more
But I was wrong, see how the girl is gone
Pushing me at the doorBut I was wrong thinking that I'd be strong
Always wanting more
But I was wrong, see how the girl is goneThe girl is gone, the girl is gone
The girl is gone, the girl is goneMemories are still so strong
The clock ticks, the girl is gone
I used to think even though we were young
Somehow we'd just hold onDisappointment's a deadly thing
It spread like butter on the bed linen

Together then we're living in sin
We had our hopes but what did they bring? But I was wrong thinking that I'd be strong
Always wanting more
But I was wrong, see how the girl is gone
Pushing me at the doorBut I was wrong thinking that I'd be strong
Always wanting more
But I was wrong, see how the girl is goneThe girl is gone, the girl is gone
The girl is gone, the girl is goneThe girl is gone, the girl is gone
The girl is gone, the girl is gone
