The Imperfection of Memory Lyrics

I can't hold onto you like I promised to
Said I'd always remember
But every day your face grows fainter
Every day a little fainter
You knew that this would happen didn't you
When you stood and begged me
To remember your existence
You knew my memories would grow distant
An unbearable sadness fills the gaps
Left by details I can't get back
I can't get back
I never dreamt I'd be here failing you
The imperfection of memory
Now you're more of a ghost than ever -
With your signal growing dimmer
I thought I'd have no trouble doing
What it was you were asking
Didn't see the darkness coming

Into which you're disappearing
An unbearable sadness fills the gaps
Left by details I can't get back
I can't get back
I'm failing but fighting to keep you
I'm fighting but failing to keep you
I'm failing but fighting to keep you
I'm fighting but failing to keep you
