The Lonely One Lyrics

Happy in solitude
Secure there's no-one to depend on
Scorning alms & good luck charms
Staring down to the rocks belowI was the lonely one
I didn't want no-oneAn odyssey so solitary
Carries you forth to collide with me
Recognized familiar signs
We're hypnotized on the turning tideYou were the lonely one
Who didn't want no-one
I was the lonely one
I didn't want no-oneHere I stand on the shifting sand
Waves of lassitude wash inland
The lonely cry of a seagull flies
Into my mind and recalls a timeWhen I was the lonely one
Who didn't want no-one
You were the lonely one
No we didn't want no-oneHear my hymn calling the lonely one
Hear my hymn for the lonely one

Siouxsie and the Banshees were an influential rock band which formed in 1976 in London, England. Initially associated with the British punk rock scene, the band quickly evolved to create "a form of post-punk discord full of daring rhythmic and sonic experimentation". The Times cited Siouxsie and the Banshees as "one of the most audacious and uncompromising musical adventurers of the post-punk era." After their split in 1996, Siouxsie and drummer Budgie continued to record music as The Creatures, a second band they had formed in the early 1980s. In 2004, Siouxsie began a solo career.
