The Nebraska Song Lyrics

Well, I came up from Goodland, Kansas
I turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stayIt's been my dream all my life
To play football on this field
And if I ever get the chance
I'll make you this dealI'll work hard, I'll do my part
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weightHey there Mr. Osborne
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be a honor sir
To call you coach somedayHere in the middle of the middle west
We ain't afraid to fight
Well, I've looked to you sir
Now I'll look you in the eyeWell, I hear something calling me
Like I've never heard before
It's a red and white freight train

And I wanna get on boardI'll work hard, I'll do my part
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weightHey there Mr. Osborne
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be a honor sir
To call you coach somedayI came up from Goodland, Kansas
I turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stay

Sawyer Brown is a country music band formed in 1981 at a Pizza Hut restaurant in Apopka, Florida. Lead singer Mark Miller asked keyboardist Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard to play piano for a couple of songs he had written. The two left for Nashville, Tennessee, where they met up with Florida drummer Joe Smyth, Michigan bass player Jim Scholten and original lead guitarist Bobby Randall. They first called the band "Savanah", but renamed themselves "Sawyer Brown" after Sawyer Brown Road, the street where they rehearsed.
