The Nihilist Lyrics

When you hung me up
And my heart dried out
Just like the fruit
On a windowsill
I'm taking us back to the city
And your mind don't know
I can hear her cry
Was it something I did
in a past life?
She can't compare you to your sister, oh
I was the leader of a pack
But now I holler in a high voice, oh
I've done what you will never do
Look away with an eyeful of hope
'Cause I'm a hopeless sap
And I'm sleeping out in the wilderness
With my fleeting thoughts by the fire you know, you know, you know
I was snug as fuck

In a Sunday suit
Like I'm all wrapped up in the innocence
But you're getting over so quickly, oh
I have a habit of attack
Dispel all the wild thoughts, oh
Black bangs, alligator teeth
This the type of girl you would fight for, oh
And I've seen what you will never see
Doesn't pay being careful, oh
I've done what you will never do
Look away with your eye full of hope

Born in Australia, but moved to New Zealand as a child, Liam Finn's passion for music begins as early as childhood as the son to Neil Finn (of Split Enz and Crowded House fame), and nephew to kiwi rock legend Tim Finn. Liam attended Auckland high school Selwyn College. It was during high school that Liam Finn pursued the musical talent in his blood and helped in the formation of the band Betchadupa (with other band members Joe Bramley, Matt Eccles and Chris Garland). The band saw the release of two albums which charted well in New Zealand.
