The Power of Two Lyrics

It was getting deeper into the night
Knew you weren't coming home
Nothing I was doing was right and now
I've got to face it aloneThe night getting darker baby the darker it got
Struggled with why and what
But I could not fight what I knew was true I was
Not going to get through the nightWithout the power of two
Me and youFeeling like I'm out on a ledge standing
With my back to the wall l use to be I'd go straight ahead
Now I'm going nowhere at all
The night getting longer baby the longer it went
Just didn't make any senseCouldn't see couldn't hear didn't know what to do
Was like I had no power at allWithout the power of two
Me and YouI never knew before that two was more then one and one
Until that night
There's nothing I could do but think of how I'm losing you
And it shook me it shock me
You locked me out thereLooking for a place I could hide

Searching for a corner to turn
Left me here alone for one night
Showed me I had something to learn
I tried not to need you but I needed you anywayIt wouldn't be easy to say
But the way that I see it I'm half without you
And I'm not going to make myself wholeWithout the power of two
Me and youMorning couldn't wait
I knew that it was getting late
But I hung on I had no choice at all
It was either walk away or crawl and
I'm Bleeding I'm BleedingI think I'm falling deeper into that hole
Deeper then I thought I could get
Like a bug that's stuck in a bowl climbing out is impossible
Yet he keeps trying harder,
Harder then he thought he couldI finally understood
I could hear I could see and the truth came through
We had ten time the power of oneWe had the power of two
Me and you
There's nothing we couldn't do
Just me and you
We had the power of two

Neil Leslie Diamond (born January 24, 1941) is an American singer and songwriter, born in Brooklyn, NY.

From the 1960s to the 1980s, Diamond was one of the more successful pop music performers, scoring a number of hits. As critic William Ruhlmann writes, "as of 2001, he claimed worldwide record sales of 115 million copies, and as of 2002 he was ranked third, behind only Elton John and Barbra Streisand, on the list of the most successful adult contemporary artists in the history of the Billboard chart."[1] As of May 2005 he has sold 120 million records worldwide, including 48 million records in the U.S.[2]

Though his record sales declined somewhat after the 1980s, Diamond continues to tour successfully, and maintains a very loyal following. Diamond's songs have been recorded by a vast array of performers from many different musical genres.

Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984, and then in 2000 was given its Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the early part of 2011.

In 2008 Neil Diamond scored his first ever Billboard number one album with "Home Before Dark", the album also became his first studio album to get to number one in the UK.
