The Saddest Song Lyrics

On my first day back, first day back in town
First day, my first day back in town
The clouds up above, they were hummin' our song
Hummin', hummin' our songMy biggest fear is if I let you go
You'll come and get me in my sleep
My biggest fear is if I let you go
You'll come and get me in my sleep
Come and get meI set my course, sailed away from shore
Steady, steady as she goes
I crash in the night, two worlds collide
But when two worlds collide no one survives, no one survives
And the reddest of reds, bluest of blues
The saddest of song I'll sing for youAnd my biggest fear is if I let you go
You'll come and get me in my sleep
My biggest fear is if I let you go
You'll come and get me in my sleep
Come and get me
Come and get me in my sleep

Come and get me
Come and get me in my sleep

Morphine was formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States in 1990 by Mark Sandman (vocals, bass) and Dana Colley (saxophone). Jerome Dupree became the group's drummer in 1991 prior to the release of their debut album, Good. "Low Rock" is Morphine's unique combination of jazz, blues and pop/rock, sung with darkly comic and ironic lyrics. Their guitarless sound relied on an unusual combination of baritone/tenor sax, percussion and a two string slide bass.
