The Sound of Crying Lyrics

Hang out the flags, a new world orders on the way
Start singing now, a song to greet the joyful dayJust when we thought the time was right for celebrating
With music of the spheres
Whats this another boat of fleeing refugees
On a sea of childrens tearsOnce more the sound of crying
Is number one across the earth
Once more the sound of crying
Is number one across the earthWere only men and women doing what we can
Sometimes I think that God is working to a planThen other times I swear that he is improvising
Discordant and remote
Another orphan baby in a failed uprising
Another real bum noteOnce more the sound of crying
Is number one across the earth
Once more the sound of crying
Is number one across the earthOnce more the sound of crying
Once more the sound of cryingAnd if youre listening up there
You could consider this a prayerWell, who am I to tell you how to run your business
Man, you could strike me blind

What kind of noise we gotta make down here
Before we destroy your peace of mindOnce more the sound of crying
Is number one across the earth
Once more the sound of crying
Is number one across the earthOnce more the sound of crying
Once more the sound of cryingAnd if youre listening up there, yeah, yeah
The sound of cryingOnce more the sound of crying
Once more the sound of crying
(The sound of crying)Once more the sound of crying
Once more the sound of crying
Once more the sound of crying
Once more the sound of cryingOnce more the sound of crying

Prefab Sprout are an English pop band from Witton Gilbert, County Durham formed in 1976, who rose to fame during the 1980s. Though critically acclaimed, and considered by many to have released some of the best pop albums of the decade, the band never matched this acclaim with commercial success. The band's best known lineup comprised Paddy McAloon (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Wendy Smith (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Martin McAloon (bass), and Neil Conti (drums).
