The Spirits Merchant Lyrics

eyes decide what my will filter [eyes decide what you will filter]
get it in, get it out
the no life of the builder
eyes decide what my will filter [eyes decide what you will filter]
it ain’t your astrology [it ain’t your astrology]
can’t blame the economy [can’t blame the economy]
in your stomach man
the more you do the more you’ll understand
when I’m makin’ you, you’re makin’ me [I’ll fly around]
if I’m makin’ you, you’re makin’ me [I’ll fly along]
but you can’t come here to talk
people often do
compare the size and shape of things
compare what could be true
and so about the ocean
and so about that blue

once within is now without
thought once I knew
you can’t come here to talk
but people often do
compare the size and shape of things
compare what could be true
and so about the ocean
and so about that blue
once within is now without
thought once I knew
I knew
eyes decide what my will filter [eyes decide what you will filter]
get it in, get it out
the no life of the builder
eyes decide what my will filter [eyes decide what you will filter]
it ain’t your astrology [it ain’t your astrology]
can’t blame the economy [can’t blame the economy]
in your stomach man
the more you do the more you’ll understand
when I’m makin’ you, you’re makin’ me[I’ll fly around]
if I’m makin’ you, you’re makin’ me [I’ll fly along]
but you can’t come here to talk
but people often do
compare the size and shape of things
compare what could be true
and so about the ocean
and so about that blue
once within is now without
thought once I knew
you can’t come here to talk
people often do
compare the size and shape of things
compare what could be true
and so about that ocean
and so about that blue […nothing’s true]
once within is now without
thought once I knew
I knew
eyes decide what my will filter
get it in, get it out
the no life of the builder
eyes decide what my will filter
get it in, get it out
the no life of the builder
it ain’t my astrology [your astrology]
can’t blame the economy
in your stomach man
the more you do the more you’ll understand
when I’m makin’ you, you’re makin’ me[I’ll fly around]
if I’m makin’ you, you’re makin’ me [I’ll fly along]

Lilys, led by singer/songwriter Kurt Heasley, are a notoriously difficult band to categorize. With an ever-evolving lineup, home base, and a sound that swings pendulum-like between My Bloody Valentine-influenced shoegazer and indie guitar pop, the answer to the question, "Who are the Lilys?" depends of the qualifiers of "when" and "where."
Along with Apples In Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal and other bands, Lilys set much of the tone for the American East Coast rock scene in the 1990s
