The Sun Goes Down Lyrics

Though I live on the edge, time is on my side
All the doors to my life are open wide
Just as long as the wheels keep on turning 'round
I will live for the groove till the sun goes down(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)
Is it a crazy notion?(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)
I got forward motionI don't wanna go to war, I don't wanna go to war
I said, I know what I want and I don't wanna go war, do you follow me?
I saw a soldier standing in a bar, looked so tired, he'd come so far
He said "I need to love someone, before they drop the atom bomb"There's a girl at the back making eyes at me
And her hair long and black is a sight to see
But I get kind of scared when love's around
I just live for the groove till the sun goes down(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)

Is it a false emotion?(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)
I got forward motionSo I'm a-taking you out but I'm a-faking, I'm married to the beat
To the music, I gave the heart I could have given you
Still there's something 'bout the way that you move
And the way that people stare, it's the shock of the new
I want my friends to see me standing next to youThe sun goes down
(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)
I got forward motionOoh, watch her dance
There must be one like her in every club in every town
But I don't mind, that's the way she wants to be
There's something 'bout her that reminds me of me
She's my soul mate, we'll be together till the sun goes downThe sun goes down
(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)
Is it a false emotion?(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
I can feel it
(Livin' it up)
I got forward motion(Livin' it up, livin' it up)
The sun goes down
(Livin' it up, livin' it up)

Internationally popular British funk-rock quartet fronted by Mark King and Mike Lindup, best known for their hits Lessons In Love, Something About You, The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up), Love Games and Hot Water. They were formed on the Isle of Wight.

Though their membership has fluctuated throughout the years, the original and perhaps best-known lineup consisted of Mark King aka "Thunderthumbs" (vocals & bass), Mike Lindup (vocals & keyboards) and brothers Boon Gould (guitar) and Phil Gould (drums). After the success of the Running in the Family album, the Gould brothers left the band, citing musical differences and nervous exhaustion. King and Lindup continued, picking up replacement artists in Gary Husband on drums and former Go West and Kate Bush guitarist Alan Murphy. Murphy sadly passed away after suffering from an AIDS related illness in October 1989. The band released their then swansong album, Forever Now, in 1994.

At the end of the 80s, Mark King was recognized as one of the best bass players in the world having pioneered the 'slap and pull' technique, treating the bass as a percussion instrument. His style and virtuosity still are hugely influential, considering he also sang while he played very difficult basslines.

Following the formal breakup of the band in the mid-90s King later performed with a new lineup under the Level 42 moniker, before he and Lindup reunited to record Retroglide in 2006.

As of 2012, King and Lindup are still touring with personnel of Pete Ray Biggin, Sean Freeman and Nathan King completing the current lineup.
