The Way You Want Me to Be Lyrics

I wish I could dance like fontaine,
Floating along on a breeze,
But when you come home
And I get you alone
I wish that I could put you at ease.I wish I could sing you a love song,
Sing about the silvery moon,
But the things that you say
When I think it's ok
Always seem to sing out of tune.Oh, I'm not the way
That you want me to be,
No, it's not like me,
No, it's not like me.You say I should dress like a lady,
Read all the best magazines,
But the people in there
And the clothes that they wear,
Take it from the girl of your dreams. You wish I could be a show-piece
Something to show all your friends
Is it true what they say,

That I get in your way ?
Is this about the place that it ends ?I'm not the way
That you want me to be,
No, it's not like me,
No, it's not like me.I wish I could dance like fontaine,
Floating along on the breeze
And when you come home
And I get you alone
I wish that I could put you at ease.

Marianne Faithfull (born 29 December 1946 in London) is an English singer-songwriter and actress whose career spans more than four decades. Her early work in pop and rock music in the 1960s was overshadowed by her struggle with drug abuse in the 1970s. After a long commercial absence, she returned late in 1979 with the highly acclaimed album, Broken English. Faithfull's subsequent solo work, often critically-acclaimed, has at times been rather overshadowed by her personal history. From 1966 to 1970, she had a highly-publicised romantic relationship with Rolling Stones' lead singer Mick Jagger.
