Henry "Red" Allen (1906– 1967) was a jazz trumpeter. Henry James Allen was born on 7th January 1906 in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of the noted bandleader Henry Allen. He took early trumpet lessons from Peter Bocage and Manuel Manetta; some of his lessons from Manetta were taken together with another promising young trumpeter, Emmett Hardy.
