These Walls Lyrics

Hmmmmmmmm
Well, well, well, well[Chorus]
These walls are closin' in
How long I'm supposed to grin
I lost my will to win
Forgive my sin, hmmmmmmmmmmThese walls are closin' in
How long I'm supposed to grin
I lost my will to win
Forgive my sin, hmmmmmmmmmmAs darkness approaches
And I'm fumbling through the blunt roaches
Its looking hopeless, totally unfocused
Stumbling onto the front porch
Poasty with my closest associates
We were so broke
Though a couple of us had sold dope
Still humble enough to be po' folk
We coming up to be grown folk
Ain't dumb enough to be slow poke

Though the hours of death they grow close
So we give our lives to the utmost, Plus
Here's an extra point
Visualize the gold post
No we not eating duck roast
But we live our lives to the utmost, Cause
Those pressure points
Are the corners we cut close
Turn most civilized
Yaggers to cutthroats
And it's these men they send
up state by truck load
And hurl 'em in to the pin like buffalos
I'm saying[Chorus]The game was sold, not told to me
Heartache won't let go of me
Games say that I'll live and lie
But I'll trrrrryyyyyEvery which way tell you the angles
I done tossed and turned
Hit and missed
Pissed cause of that didn't amount to this
Getting it ain't got a damn thing to do with keeping shit
Working damn hard to get it
Plans and not parting with it
Life got a way of showing you shit
you can't barely see
Tough keeping close
Setting sail through a sea of g's
Something should this night I lay me down to sleep
Wasn't happy with my friend
Pray the lord my soul to keep[Chorus]I'm 'bout 3000 miles from Graceland
By the county from Macon
But you would think I'm arm reach from Satan
I got a strange way of telling the truth
Most felons do stuff between
Hearin your story and telling it too
Stuck between nom and feelin it
Right between calm and militant
On the search for deliverance
I'm three days from beatin my case at the arraignment
This shits basic
Get the (?) get the statement[R. Prophit]
Part with the heart of a soldier
Right now I'm stuck behind bars with daddy told ya
I chose to march with martin carryin posters
They lock me down, but they usually hang us folks up
We so tough, white man trying to control us
And mold us, simulate our cultures, they doped us
Hell naw I'm stayin focused
I won't corrupt with evil
Forever fightin for my people, equalFight for you rightsThese walls are closing in
How long I'm supposed to grin
I lost my will to win
Forgive my sin..Ladies and gentlemen I have some very sad news for all of you
Could you lower those sings please?
Martin Luther King was shot and was killed tonight..

Nappy Roots are an American hip hop sextet that originated in Kentucky in 1995, best known for their hit 2002 single "Awnaw". Their music can be categorized as alternative Southern rap.

The members of the group met while studying at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The group consists of Kentucky and Oakland, California natives Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Ron Clutch, Big V, R. Prophet, and Fishscales.

Their debut album Country Fried Cess was released in 1998. Eventually, they were signed to the major label Atlantic Records and rose to fame with their first album on the label, 2002's Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz. The album featured the singles "Headz up", "Awnaw" (whose remix featured Marcos Curiel), and "Po' Folks" (featuring Anthony Hamilton). Their next album Wooden Leather, released in 2003, featured the singles "Roun' the Globe" and "Sick and Tired" (featuring Anthony Hamilton). This critically acclaimed, major label follow up album, "Wooden Leather" featured production from Kanye West, David Banner and Lil Jon.

Since the release of Wooden Leather they are back to being independent artists, and have started their own label, N.R.E.G (Nappy Roots Entertainment Group) with distribution through Fontana/Universal Music Group. On July 31, 2007, they released their first album as independent artists, Innerstate Music featuring singles "Good Day" and "Keep It Real". This was actually an internet album, similar to a modern day mixtape. It was intended to be a precursor to their 2008 album, The Humdinger which was released on August 5th 2008.

In 2008, the Nappy Roots returned to the spotlight with an internet campaign targeting the mega-popular hip-hop sites such as Allhiphop, HiphopDX, Sohh, 2dopeboyz, Dubcnn, XXL Mag and BallerStatus, etc.[3] The critically-acclaimed album, The Humdinger features guest appearances from Anthony Hamilton, Greg Nice, Greg Street and Slick & Rose, with production from Sol Messiah, Groove Chambers, Big Al, Joe Hop and more. The Humdinger entered the Billboard Rap Charts at #7 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at #13.

Nappy Roots last toured across the country on the "Pursuit of Nappyness" tour. Fish Scales, Skinny DeVille, and Big V began their Humdinger Winter Tour on January 14, 2009 in Chicago, IL.

In 2009, NREG anticipates the release of 40 Akerz from Fish Scales and Skinny DeVille as well as an independent project from Big V.

Nappy Roots will kick off 2010 with their highly anticipated new album, "Pursuit of Nappiness", due to release April 20, 2010. The album will feature songs produced by a quickly emerging production duo from Atlanta, GA by the name of Phivestarr Productions.
