Thirsty Dog Lyrics

I know you've heard it all before
I'm sorry for this three year war
For the setting up of camps and wire and trenchesI'm sorry for the other night
I know sorry, it don't make it right
I'm sorry for things I can't even mentionI'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm sitting feeling sorry in the Thirsty Dog
I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
Yeah, I'm feeling very sorry in the Thirsty DogYou keep nailing me back into my box
I'm sorry I keep popping back up
With my crazy mouth and jangling jester's capI'm sorry I ever wrote that book
I'm sorry for the way I look
But there ain't a lot that I can do about thatI'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm sitting feeling sorry in the Thirsty Dog
I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm feeling very sorry in the Thirsty DogAnd I'm sorry about the hospital
Some things are unforgivable
The things that simply cannot be forgivenI was not equipped to know how to care
And on the occasions I came up for air

I saw my life and wondered what the hell have I been livingI'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm sitting feeling sorry in the Thirsty Dog
I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm feeling very, very sorry in the Thirsty DogI'm sorry about all your friends
I hope they'll speak to me again
I said before I'd pay for all the damagesI'm sorry it's just rotten luck
I'm sorry I've forgotten how to fuck
It's just that I think my heart and soul are kind of famishedI'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm sitting feeling sorry in the Thirsty Dog
I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm feeling very sorry in the Thirsty DogForgive me, baby but don't worry
Love is always having to say you're sorry
And I am, from my head down to my shoesI'm sorry that I'm always pissed
I'm sorry that I exist and when I look into your eyes
I can see you're sorry tooI'm sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm sitting feeling sorry in the Thirsty Dog
I'm sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm feeling very sorry in the Thirsty DogI'm sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm feeling very thirsty in the Sorry Dog
I'm sorry, sorry, sorry
I'm feeling very sorry in the Thirsty Dog

Australia (1984 – present)
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds was originally formed in 1984 by two former members of the Australian band The Birthday Party: Nick Cave (vocals, songwriter, keyboards, harmonica) and multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey. They were joined by Einstürzende Neubauten member Blixa Bargeld (guitar), Hugo Race (guitar), and former Magazine member Barry Adamson (bass, piano). Cave’s former girlfriend Anita Lane was also a creative influence and occasional lyricist. This line-up recorded their debut album, From Her To Eternity, released in 1984. During their initial Australian tour, Birthday Party bass guitarist Tracy Pew also performed with the band.

The name of the new project indicated the shift in Cave’s role from band member, as in The Birthday Party, to band leader, and coincided with his shift in songwriting style from expressionism to detailed lyrical narrative. The group has been through many personnel changes, with Cave and Harvey remaining the constants.

Cave separated from Lane in the mid-1980s and began a relationship with Elisabeth Recker. While in Berlin, he released four albums with the Bad Seeds: The Firstborn Is Dead; Kicking Against the Pricks; Your Funeral… My Trial; and Tender Prey. Kicking Against the Pricks was the first album to feature the drumming of Swiss Thomas Wydler, who is the longest serving member in the band beside Cave and Mick Harvey.

In 1987, the Bad Seeds made an appearance in the Wim Wenders film, Wings of Desire. In 1990, the band collectively eliminated hard drugs from its diet, relocated to Brazil, and released The Good Son. Their next record, 1992’s Henry’s Dream, was the first to feature current members Martyn P. Casey and Conway Savage. Following it came 1994’s Let Love In.
