This Kind of Day Lyrics

Like morbid cities that come out only in summer
I'm suiting up for an ordinary May
Couldn't find it safer than a primrose led revival
The whole stupid mess is on its way
And of all the other people here
I'd rather be here with youCrowds gather 'round until the dust moves in completely
We'll part with them even though your troubles linger
The air sweet and pollen grabs you last before you dream
And of all the little boys and girls
And of all the other people here
I'd rather be here with you
This kind of day won't get you down
The wind's blowing everything around
You know it's not the end of the world
You know it's not the end all, end allUnder the cover of the sympathetic mover
I ventured asking what about this is all wrong
You said: "Be quiet, and enjoy the peaceful weather"
And of all the little boys and girls

And of all the other people here
I'd rather be here with you
This kind of day won't get you down
The wind's blowing everything around
You know it's not the end of the world
You know it's not the end all, end allYou know it's not the end of the world
You know it's not the end all, end all

The Autumn Defense began as a side project for John Stirratt, who is best known for his work as bassist for alt-country bands Wilco and Uncle Tupelo. Stirratt collaborated with Pat Sansone, who had been known for his work with Joseph Arthur and Josh Rouse, to produce a 1960s-style rock/pop album. This album, The Green Hour, was released in 2001 on Stirratt's own Broadmoor label, with Stirratt doing the bulk of the writing while Sansone focused on the technical recording aspects. The band did some light touring around the United States in between other projects.
